What if your best friend was a robot? Artificial intelligence is so advanced today that we have robots that can act in many ways like humans, talking, moving, and seeming to think like we do. In this class, you will learn about the newest robotic innovations, and actually see what it would be like if your best friend was a robot by reading the novel Eager by Helen Fox. Sometimes robots interfere with the lives of humans they serve; what does this mean for the future of robotic development? You’ll analyze and discuss your thoughts about artificial intelligence, and craft your own original creative writing involving a robot. Come and meet your humanlike friends in “Hello, Robot!”Note: Students must have a copy of Eager for this class. Families may purchase new or used copies or find them at your school or local library.
