From Trash to Treasure: Upcycling Challenges

Want to make a leash for your dog? A multi level garage for your toy cars? A bookshelf for your room? A coin bank? A pencil pouch? A flower pot? Jewelry? What if you had to make it all using discarded objects such as plastic bags, toilet paper rolls, tin cans, or old clothes? Upcycling means reusing materials to create something that is more valuable than the original item. Join us to creatively reuse “trash” by designing and building solutions to problems and discover new ways to reduce our impact on the planet.

About Your Extraordinary Saturday (YES)

For 1st – 4th Grade Students

A New Adventure Every Weekend

MITY's program for elementary students enables inquisitive, high achieving 1st - 4th grade students to continue learning outside of the traditional classroom.  Courses are intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, activate imaginations, and engage eager learners in hands on discovery that is not possible within a regular classroom setting.  While students are in class, parents are invited to listen to professional speakers on topics related to raising bright children, socialize with other parents, or visit a local coffee shop.
