    Period 2

  • Grade Level

    Grades 3-4

Join us as we create art inspired by nature! Drawing inspiration from Henri Rousseau’s jungle animals, Audubon’s birds, and Louise Bourgeois’ spider sculptures, students will sketch animals in motion and sculpt creatures out of clay. We will practice drawing and watercolor techniques as we create beautiful flowers and landscapes and learn about the works of Matisse, Rembrandt, and Georgia O’Keeffe. Finally, students will study the art of Vassily Kandinsky as they make their own abstract drawings and the work of Andy Goldsworthy as they construct mixed media sculptures.

About Your Extraordinary Saturday (YES)

For 1st – 4th Grade Students

A New Adventure Every Weekend

MITY's program for elementary students enables inquisitive, high achieving 1st - 4th grade students to continue learning outside of the traditional classroom.  Courses are intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, activate imaginations, and engage eager learners in hands on discovery that is not possible within a regular classroom setting.  While students are in class, parents are invited to listen to professional speakers on topics related to raising bright children, socialize with other parents, or visit a local coffee shop.
