How do civil engineers design massive bridges that can withstand earthquakes, hurricanes, and trucks carrying over 100,000 pounds?  They need to apply math, physics, meteorology, geology, economics, and much more as they approach the special circumstances of each location.  In this hands-on class, you will use your knowledge of balance, force, and motion as you experiment with beam, arch, and suspension bridges.  You will explore how forces act on different structures and discover ways to counteract and redirect forces and motion.  If you like engineering challenges, this is the class for you!

About Your Extraordinary Saturday (YES)

For 1st – 4th Grade Students

A New Adventure Every Weekend

MITY's program for elementary students enables inquisitive, high achieving 1st - 4th grade students to continue learning outside of the traditional classroom.  Courses are intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, activate imaginations, and engage eager learners in hands on discovery that is not possible within a regular classroom setting.  While students are in class, parents are invited to listen to professional speakers on topics related to raising bright children, socialize with other parents, or visit a local coffee shop.
