Document-Based Questions: Let’s DBQ it!

Do you know what DBQs are? You may have heard about them before if you know someone who has taken high school Advanced Placement (AP) history courses. DBQ’s are Document Based Questions that ask us to consider historical evidence and form an opinion or argument based upon information from maps, letters, paintings, diaries, official documents, and more. In this class, we will explore two DBQ’s, one focused on U.S. History, and the other focused on World History. We will analyze primary sources, form arguments, have debates, and write essays and journals to share our strong thinking. This class will help you to develop evidence-based argument skills that you can then apply to future studies, life experiences, and careers!

About Online ExplorSchool

For Students In Grades 5 – 8

MITY’s Online ExplorSchool provides bright students with the opportunity to explore a topic of interest with similarly motivated peers. The goal is to keep students challenged and engaged as they build, create, and solve real world problems. Each class features a variety of activities that take students away from a screen as they use their hands to design and construct. Importantly, students also have opportunities to socialize with their peers through non-academic activities.
