In this class, we write, write, and write some more in our favorite styles and are challenged to move outside of our comfort zones to create new possibilities. We also learn how to revise and peer edit, conference and collaborate so we can share our work with others. Students who enjoy this class will look forward to taking Write Stuff in MITY’s Expand Your Mind program in high school. Students can expect to:
- Learn and practice how to journal about what they see and experience in the world around them
- Share their favorite styles and authors in an online discussion group and learn from the kinds of writing they already enjoy
- Create a variety of draft pieces that expand the student’s skills in writing and communication
- Learn the value of self-editing skills and practices
- Edit and share their work in peer groups online so they can learn from each other how to polish and improve their craft and skills
- Create and/or present a final, developed work for an online and/or printed MITY publication
