Are you interested in science and health and want to learn more about the heart and the field of cardiology? In this class, students will learn the basics and nuances of heart rhythm, EKG, blood pressure, and the impact of exercise on cardiovascular function. We will also delve into blood function, blood typing, respiration, and how nutrition plays a role in healthy hearts. Students will learn about anatomy through dissection, experimentation, models, and exercise. Finally, we will take a field trip to the University of Minnesota’s Visible Heart Lab to explore surgery and medical devices used to keep hearts alive.
