Electricity in Physics: The Spark that Powers the World

This class is all about electricity!  Students will learn about how electric charges can be manipulated by studying phenomena such as electrical shocks, lightning, and electric circuits.  We will build and examine electrical devices such as electroscopes, electrophoresis, motors, generators, and headphones.  Students will  explore how electric circuits work by building circuits in series and parallel and use Ohm’s Law to analyze how current, resistance, and voltage relate to each other.  Finally, we will travel to an interactive electricity museum to explore these concepts on a bigger scale and to experience electricity in action.  Prerequisite: Knowledge of Algebra would be beneficial for the analysis of electric circuits and Ohm’s Law.
