In this multifaceted course, students will delve into all things theatre, both onstage and off. Topics include:
Stage Make-up – Use make-up to create bruising effects and old age
Improvisation – Explore spontaneity and creativity through games and scenes that teach quick thinking, collaboration, and the art of saying “Yes, and…!”
Prop Building – Create imaginative props, such as a realistic stage cake, to enhance storytelling and bring scenes to life
Stage Combat – Learn the secrets of safe, choreographed fight scenes to bring action and drama to the stage
Set Design – Explore “design thinking” while bringing imagined settings to life through Tinkercad and model-building
We will also explore sound cues, stage rigging, acting techniques, and writing for the stage. This class is great for beginners as well as more experienced students who wish to learn more about the ins and outs of theatre.
