Storytelling Through Art: Comics and Graphic Novels

  • Time of Day

    Afternoon Class (1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. CST)

Are you passionate about drawing?  Do you enjoy reading graphic novels?  Are you curious about careers in animation, design, or advertising?  In this class, students will use their creativity to write and illustrate their very own graphic novel.  You will learn how to generate ideas using cultural mythologies, social justice themes, time travel, and your own life.  Students will learn about the unique structure of storytelling through sequential art and draw inspiration from graphic writers such as Gene Luen Yang, Leila Del Duca, Daniel Jose Older, and Molly Knox Ostertag.  If you’re an artist and a fan of manga, graphic memoirs, and other visual books, this is the class for you!
