Have you ever wondered how the lock in your door or the clicker in your pen works? What about the machine that makes your clothes or the one that prints the newspaper? The modern world is filled with mechanical devices that blend in seamlessly—especially when they are working correctly! But how did these elegant mechanisms come into being? In this hands-on course, you will ask and answer your own questions about the world of mechanisms. With the guidance of an accomplished K’nex builder, you will design and build your own K’nex contraptions, deepening your understanding of the mechanics that shape our world.

MITY’s ExplorSchool provides rising 6th-8th grade students a unique opportunity to investigate new topics and dive deeper into their passions at a level that is challenging and motivating.  Intellectually curious students take two classes, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, enabling them to explore different disciplines, experience things that are not possible within a normal school setting, and forge new friendships.
