Percussion instruments are often referred to as the “backbone” or “heartbeat” of music. In this class, students will create a variety of percussion instruments, including drums, rain sticks, chimes, shakers, and more using collected materials such as wood, pipes, sticks, and seeds. They will also explore the role of percussion music in various cultures and learn to make music together as an ensemble. Each student will take home an instrument they make.
