Ethics in Action: Choices for a Better World

How do we know what is “right” or “wrong,” or “good” or “bad”? In this class, students will explore the foundational principles of ethics and learn how to apply them to real-life situations. Through engaging discussions and thought-provoking case studies, students will understand key ethical concepts such as fairness, responsibility, respect, and honesty. We will consider different approaches to moral dilemmas, examining direct and indirect consequences as well as multiple points of view. Students will learn to actively listen, reason through a problem, evaluate arguments, formulate opinions, and defend their positions against objections. The course will culminate in a small group project in which students generate their own campaign centered around a social justice issue of their choice.
