Is social media good for us? Is it better to eat meat or grab a veggie burger? When is it okay to “ghost” someone? Do “gifted student” programs help or hurt kids? You will examine these and other hot topics as you learn to be more effective at communicating and successfully engaging with others on controversial issues. Students will learn how to research, develop arguments, speak persuasively, and critically examine other points of view. These skills will help you stand out in high school, college, and your future career. If you are thinking about joining the debate team at your school or dream of becoming a lawyer, a member of Congress, or a writer, this is the course for you!
