A Rube Goldberg machine is a chain reaction-type device that intentionally performs a simple task in an overly complicated and impractical way. In this hands-on class, students will learn about simple machines such as a lever, wedge, pulley, and inclined plane. You will also explore engineering and physics concepts such as force, motion, velocity, and trajectory as you design and build your own apparatus. The largest Rube Goldberg machine ever built contained 427 steps—what will you create?
