In this class, students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, not only to use in organic chemistry but, by extension, to use in everyday experiences. Students will learn the facts, formulas, principles and critical industrial processes that compose a solid foundation for a college organic chemistry course. The class will cover the general principles of organic chemistry related to structure, nomenclature, synthesis, uses, and reactions of alcohols, ethers and aliphatic hydrocarbons, alkanes, alkynes, alkenes, and cycloalkanes. ($25 course fee)
