    Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm – 5:30pm

In this dynamic class, students will develop their fiction-writing skills in a supportive, encouraging, and fun space. We will begin with a short review of the elements of fiction: characterization, setting, point of view, dialogue, and plot. We will then apply that knowledge and practice our skills through readings, free-write exercises, writing prompts, games, activities, and time spent writing a longer piece of fiction. Students will also share their work with others in discussions and workshops, where they will engage in peer-to-peer editing. The class will culminate with a publication of student writing and a collection of videos of student readings to share with friends and family. Students will be encouraged to think outside the box, get creative, take risks, and follow their curiosity throughout the course.
