Discover how great artists saw the world! From careful sketches inspired by the Old Masters to vibrant Impressionist brushstrokes and expressive landscapes, students will explore how artists past and present bring the world to life. Students will begin with Leonardo da Vinci and the Hudson River School, practicing contour and shading techniques to bring Minnesota landscapes to life. Next, we’ll experiment with Impressionism, using brushstrokes and color to capture light and atmosphere like Monet and Van Gogh. Finally, we will dive into Expressionism, transforming landscapes into bold, emotional statements. This class will challenge gifted young artists to think and create like the masters.

About Your Extraordinary Saturday (YES)

For 1st – 5th Grade Students

A New Adventure Every Weekend

MITY's program for elementary students enables inquisitive, high achieving 1st - 5th grade students to continue learning outside of the traditional classroom.  Courses are intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, activate imaginations, and engage eager learners in hands on discovery that is not possible within a regular classroom setting.  While students are in class, parents are invited to listen to professional speakers on topics related to raising bright children, socialize with other parents, or visit a local coffee shop.
