    EYM 2026 Session B

  • Class Category

    STEM

In the tech driven world in which we live, how do companies and individuals protect their privacy and keep their resources functioning? Why is it so important for employees to undergo mandatory security training and what common scams should you be on the lookout for? This introductory course on information and computer security is ideal for students who enjoy math and problem solving and have an interest in cybersecurity or digital forensics. We’ll talk about the history, types, and goals of security, learn about the different parts of computers and networks, and explore cryptography by manually encoding and decoding classical ciphers. We will also examine how those early methods evolved into today’s encryption methods, and think critically about how to protect ourselves. Finally, we will debate the legalities of cyber cases and discover what careers are available in this growing field.
