Advanced Debate: Tackling Ethical Dilemmas

  • Session

    EYM 2024 Session B

  • Class Category

    Humanities

It’s important to stand up for what you believe in— but how exactly do you do that? Debate can help us figure out what we believe and why, and how to share that view with others. In this course, students will learn research, writing, deliberation, and public speaking skills by participating in Ethics Bowl. This team debate format asks students to find consensus on, and propose solutions to, real-world issues, ranging from politics to pop culture. Students will have the opportunity to learn about philosophy and the world around them, as well as develop their ability to have thoughtful discussions with others. This course is open to students with any level of debate experience, including none at all! Learn to challenge yourself and others with confidence, inquisitiveness, and respect!
