Do you like to read graphic novels or comics? Enjoy drawing? Do you have an idea for a story but aren’t sure where to start? In this interdisciplinary class, students will become both storytellers and makers as they create a book entirely from scratch. We’ll explore character creation and development, plot structure, and dialogue. Students will learn how images and words work together to tell a story, experimenting with layout, pacing, and visual style. We will also dive into the basics of bookbinding techniques as we construct our own books. By the end of the course, each student will leave with the beginnings of their own graphic novel and the skills to keep creating stories long after the session ends.
