This beginning woodworking and wood-whittling class invites students to explore traditional carving techniques through hands-on making. Students will carve a personalized hiking stick, adding decorative designs through wood burning or paint. To finish their piece, they will wrap the handle with leather strips and paracord for both comfort and style, and then practice using them on a nature hike! Students will also be introduced to Norwegian-style spoon carving, learning foundational skills while creating a functional wooden spoon. This class emphasizes craftsmanship, patience, and creative expression through working with natural materials.
