Backstage Theater: Tech Olympics!

  • Time of Day

    Morning Class (9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CST)

Do you enjoy theater? Are you curious about what happens behind-the-scenes?  In this class, students will learn about all of the elements needed to make a performance successful. You will design sets using Tinkercad and learn how to use miter saws, drills, and other tools found in scene shops. You will draw costume renderings and practice using stage make-up to create bruises and enhance or change an actor’s appearance. Students will use Q-Lab to create sound effects and background music and take a backstage tour of the Guthrie Theater. You will also work with a Technical Director at a local black box theater. Students will go through different activities you would find at a “Tech Olympics”, including prop/set changes, costume quick changes, focusing lights, and tying a tie! Will there be games? Yes! Do you need experience? No!
