Dive into the science of the sea! In this hands-on class, students will explore the water cycle, investigate the properties of salt water, and build a solar still to turn salty water into fresh. We will explore the fascinating world of ocean animals, from tide pool creatures to deep-sea explorers, learning about shark senses, sea turtle migrations, and how marine mammals adapt to life underwater. Students will even measure their own breathing capacity with a spirometer experiment to compare human lungs with marine animals. Through observation, discussion, and guided investigations, students will discover the amazing science behind our oceans and the animals that call them home.

A MITY Adventure Awaits
MITY’s summer program for elementary students enables curious, high achieving students to continue their learning in a fun environment. Classes are intentionally designed to spark curiosity and expose students to new ways of thinking. Advanced learners also have the opportunity to socialize and play games with peers who share their passion for learning. Students can attend full day or half day, and extended care is available for families who need it.
