Have you ever wondered why you look or act a certain way? Are you curious about how scientists use DNA to investigate crimes and alter the foods we eat? In this experiment-based class, students will delve into the fascinating world of genetics, the study of how genes and traits are passed down from one generation to the next. You will understand the double helix, how DNA is replicated, and the role of nature versus nurture. Students will extract DNA from bananas and strawberries, use microscopes to see the structure of a cell, explore plant genetics using quick seeds, and more!

A MITY Adventure Awaits

MITY’s summer program for elementary students enables curious, high achieving students to continue their learning in a fun environment. Classes are intentionally designed to spark curiosity and expose students to new ways of thinking. Advanced learners also have the opportunity to socialize and play games with peers who share their passion for learning. Students can attend full day or half day, and extended care is available for families who need it.
