In this student-centered, hands-on course, you will choose a theme that inspires you and develop it through drawing, painting, and sculpture. We’ll kick things off by exploring ideas, gathering inspiration, and discovering what sparks your creativity, including a scavenger hunt at the Macalester Library. From there, you’ll experiment with a variety of materials and techniques as you build sketches, studies, and polished studio pieces that reflect your personal vision. A visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Art will give you new perspectives and help deepen your theme. By the end of the session, you’ll have a body of artwork that showcases your unique style and creative voice across multiple mediums.
