    Grade 5

In this class, students will explore the connection between computer science and life science by modeling real-world environmental challenges. Using coding concepts such as variables and conditional statements, students will simulate how overfishing affects an ocean ecosystem. They will observe how changes to one species can impact others and experiment with ways to restore balance to the system. By modifying and testing code, students will deepen their understanding of cause and effect, ecosystem dynamics, and how computational thinking can be used to solve complex scientific problems.

About Your Extraordinary Saturday (YES)

For 1st – 5th Grade Students

A New Adventure Every Weekend

MITY's program for elementary students enables inquisitive, high achieving 1st - 5th grade students to continue learning outside of the traditional classroom.  Courses are intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, activate imaginations, and engage eager learners in hands on discovery that is not possible within a regular classroom setting.  While students are in class, parents are invited to listen to professional speakers on topics related to raising bright children, socialize with other parents, or visit a local coffee shop.
