    Grades 3-4

Ahoy! Summertime in Minnesota means it’s time to design and build boats! Students will learn about concepts such as buoyancy, displacement, friction, sail area, propulsion, materials science, and more as they tackle various engineering challenges. What materials will work best? How much weight can your boat hold before it sinks? Will it survive in rough seas? Can you design a wind-powered vessel? A boat that is powered by something else? A submarine that stays underwater but does not hit the ocean floor? Fair winds and following seas to all!
