3D Modeling for Kids: A Physical and Digital Exploration of Approximation and Modeling

In this class, students will learn how models are powerful tools for understanding complex systems by simplifying and approximating real-world objects and structures. Starting with physical materials like building blocks, clay, and wire, participants will practice transforming abstract ideas into tangible representations. As students move through an iterative design process, they will transition to digital modeling using TinkerCAD software and ultimately bring their designs to life using 3D printing technology. By experimenting with different materials and techniques, students will develop spatial reasoning skills, practice creative problem-solving, and gain insights into materials science and engineering principles.
