This class introduces students to the wonders of biology and anatomy through actual dissection experiences. Students will examine earthworms, cow eyes, clams, and perch specimens, exploring how each fits into the biological classification system. They will use real dissection tools and microscopes for an up-close look at tissues and other prepared slides. Students will also learn about each animal’s qualities, habitat and overall anatomy in contrast with other specimens. Note: Students must be ok with “once alive” animals and be mature enough to handle the tools properly. Behavior that is deemed unsafe will result in immediate dismissal from the class. *Note: Dissection Discoveries 1 is not a prerequisite for this course.

About Your Extraordinary Saturday (YES)
For 1st – 4th Grade Students
A New Adventure Every Weekend
MITY's program for elementary students enables inquisitive, high achieving 1st - 4th grade students to continue learning outside of the traditional classroom. Courses are intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, activate imaginations, and engage eager learners in hands on discovery that is not possible within a regular classroom setting. While students are in class, parents are invited to listen to professional speakers on topics related to raising bright children, socialize with other parents, or visit a local coffee shop.
