Like humans, animals need to be stimulated each day so they stay healthy and don’t get bored. Zookeepers use many different tools to accomplish this, including changing the physical environment through the addition of trees, sand, and grasses; adding chew toys and hammocks; playing bird calls; and many other things. In this class, students will use the engineering design process to create an engaging enrichment for an animal at the zoo. Students will apply their science and math knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills as they solve a real world problem and present a solution.

A New Adventure Every Weekend
MITY's program for elementary students enables inquisitive, high achieving 1st - 4th grade students to continue learning outside of the traditional classroom. Courses are intentionally designed to inspire inquiry, activate imaginations, and engage eager learners in hands on discovery that is not possible within a regular classroom setting. While students are in class, parents are invited to listen to professional speakers on topics related to raising bright children, socialize with other parents, or visit a local coffee shop.
