Stagecraft

Have you ever watched a play or musical and wondered how it was created?  Who painted that backdrop or made that prop or costume? This class will explore the visual world of theatre and the artisans who make that world a reality.  We will cover stagecraft history and modern innovations. We will delve into the many fabrication techniques that carpenters, prop artisans and scenic painters use.  Students will get hands-on experience working in a scene shop and building a 3D set model. We will also explore color and the relationship between paint and light. Students will end this course by painting their own mini backdrop.
