An optional information seminar is offered for parents each Saturday of the YES session from 9:00 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. These free seminars are hosted by experts in gifted education and education resources. Past topics have included: dealing with perfectionism in your child, meeting your gifted student’s needs at school, and the social and emotional needs of gifted children.

Kris Happe, Parent Advocacy: Non-negotiables and how not to burn bridges.
Kris is a Gifted Education Specialist in the Osseo Area Schools and directs all aspects of gifted education programming. Kris is a member of the Gifted and Talented Advisory Council at the MN Dept of Education.
Lisa Woodruff, The Joy of Raising Gifted Children
Lisa is the Clinical Supervisor of school based mental health in the Anoka school district.
Joe Wenc is former President (2009-2012) and current Leadership Team member of the Eden Prairie Parent Group of MCGT. As a parent, he has successfully advocated for subject and grade acceleration for his children. He has also advocated for district level changes by serving on multiple committees in the Eden Prairie school district (Strategic Planning Committee, GT Services Review Task Force, Full Time GT Program Committee).
